An official website of the Velocity Interoperability Network

History

The Member Registry of the Velocity Interoperability Network is a young institution. It was established on 6 September 2026 so that there would be one public record of which organisations are members of the Network and under which keys they exchange. The milestones since, and those already fixed for the months ahead, are listed below and will be added to as the Registry's work proceeds.

  1. 10 August to 5 September 2026

    The transition period

Before the Registry existed, the work of assessing the organisations that were to be listed on the first day was done under the direction of the Ministry, against the framework that applies now. Eleven applications were received, nine assessments begun and eight completed. Nothing was certified: every certificate was issued on the day of establishment.

  2. 6 September 2026

    Registry established

The Member Registry is established as the authoritative record of which organisations are members of the Network, acting under the direction of the Ministry.

  3. 6 September 2026

    First listings made

The Ministry, the Defence Department, the Immigration Department and the Careers Office are certified and listed, together with the first four organisations from outside the institutions of the Network. 8 organisations are listed in all, by notices RN 2026/001 to RN 2026/008.

  4. 6 September 2026

    Official website launched

registry.gov.vin opens with the register, the certification procedure and the rules on keys.

  5. 6 September 2026

Schedule of fees and programme of review published

Notice RN 2026/009 publishes the schedule of fees, to take effect on 1 January 2027. Notice RN 2026/010 publishes the programme under which the eight listings made at establishment will be reviewed between March and June 2027.

  6. 6 September 2026

Assessment framework and first statistical release published

Notice RN 2026/011 publishes the framework of eight criteria and four classes of finding against which every system is tested. Notice RN 2026/012 publishes the first statistical release, covering the transition period and the position of the registers at establishment.

  7. September 2026

    Applications received

The Registry begins to receive applications for certification in writing from organisations wishing to join the Network. No fee is payable for an application made before 1 January 2027.

  8. 1 January 2027

    Schedule of fees takes effect

Fees become payable for applications, periodic reviews, changes of key and certified extracts. Consultation of the registers and confirmation of a listing remain free.

  9. 15 January 2027

    First quarterly statistical release

Figures for the quarter from establishment to 31 December 2026 are published, and quarterly reporting begins in earnest.

  10. March 2027

    First periodic reviews begin

The listings made at establishment are reviewed against the standards in force, two in each month from March to June 2027, in order of listing.

Every decision recorded here is set out in full on the Notices page. For the Registry's present duties, see About the Registry; for the review programme, see Periodic review; and for the counts behind the transition period, see Statistics.
